We are building a boutique farm dedicated to the endurance-bred Arabian, quality Charolais cattle and the uncompromising spirit of the trail in the Somerset Region.
At the heart of Ra Endurance Farm is a family passion forged over decades on Queensland's toughest endurance tracks. Our commitment is to the Arabian horse: an animal of unparalleled athleticism, intelligence and heart. Our 80-acre farm, situated right beside the beautiful Lake Manchester, is now the home of our breeding program, focused on producing the next generation of sound, competitive horses, following in the hoofprints of champions like Ra Silver Dancer and Maximus Ra.

It all started when Matt's mum, Kate Gadsby, acquired an Arabian horse named Harry while helping a friend with her trail riding business. A new interest sparked, and their first official outing was a successful CTR event. Kate was pretty nervous, being new to horses and events. Fortunately, a kind lady named Chrissy took Kate under her wing, suggesting she try the world of endurance riding. Kate was at the next event in Imbil with bells on!
Soon after, Kate's son Matt decided he wanted to give endurance a go too. They bought a lovely grey gelding, Darganga Fingal (Jazzy), and their obsession with the sport and Arabian horses was born.
After acquiring 10 acres in Anstead, going to events almost fortnightly, Matt and Kate met Marion and Paul Lengronne. Together, they created a team named Ra Endurance, inspired by the Eye of Ra tattoo on Matt’s shoulder.
As a team, Ra Endurance went on to train up to 17 horses at a time, competing with great success. Matt now has over 12,600 successful kilometres ridden, including State Championship wins and placings in Quilty's and Shazhada's. Marion achieved over 11,100km and Paul over 7,200km, with many epic achievements between them. While Kate achieved her open status, she found her true passion in training and strapping the horses.
These were some of Kate's happiest days, sharing a sport she loved with her son and friends. After years of success and adventure, age eventually caught up with Kate. A double knee replacement was the final straw, giving her no real choice but to retire from horses and hand the reins of Ra Endurance over to Matt to continue the legacy.
Shortly after Kate had retired, Matt met the love of his life, Mindy, who was also an endurance rider ready to help carry on Kate's legacy. Ra Endurance took a quiet step back more recently as Matt and Mindy welcomed their son, but things are definitely ramping up again now!

This brings us to today: Ra Endurance has acquired a stunning 80-acre parcel of land right next door to the Kholo Endurance Riders' Ride base. This exciting move not only provides the perfect training ground, but since Matt and Mindy are key organisers for the Kholo events, the convenience of the location makes it easier to run and support the club's activities.
This move also re-ignites a small hobby breeding legacy started by Kate in 2005 when she bred the epic endurance mare, Ra Silver Dancer, who was later the dam of Maximus Ra, a three-time consecutive Queensland State Champion (as a heavyweight and never a vet out) Gelding.
Ra Endurance Farm is nestled on a stunning 80-acre parcel in the Somerset Region, strategically positioned for elite equine performance. Situated directly on the fringe of the Lake Manchester Dam and bordered by thousands of acres of State Forestry and pristine parklands, this unique location provides an unparalleled and vast training ground. This environment allows us to condition our horses across varied terrain and distances, ensuring sound, adaptable competitors.
Furthermore, the ample space and clean environment are ideal for managing our Arabian breeding program and raising our quality Charolais cattle herd, continuing our legacy in a truly inspiring place.
